i’m an incoming conservatory freshman who loves singing pieces like this as well as other styles of music, especially those pioneered by people of color (like rock music). i really wish all styles of music were more accessible to sing, compose, and in this case fuse together! sure, if i sung this for my vocal professor the way buckley did i’d be told that i’m not using the correct techniques to emulate a european baroque-era style but i still think this is fucking awesome. buckley is singing it with the correct techniques to emulate his own style, and i think that’s rad.

It holds up very well. The best? I don't think there's any consensus on that. Kyril Gerstein's is absolutely marvelous; so is Scarpini, Donahoe, David Lively (and Gielen.) All live performances by the way. And then Ohlsson and Hamelin. There's a lot of top-notch competition already. But Ogdon's was the first, at least in the modern era.

How I so dearly miss that old Liturgy. I'm over 78 years old. I remember the days when my beloved Catholic Church was highly respected now not so more.

I sung this to my son. My dad sung this to me when I was a baby. My grandad sung this to my dad when he was a baby. My grandad was born in 1919 and was a fisherman out of Montrose.

Id never be suited for the military. Especially with the technology nowadays, its all a numbers game whoever comes out alive. You can do everything correct and still be decimated by the enemy through no fault of yours. To that I say NO. Respect where its due to those who know this and still fight for whats right

I'm sure many have seen the irony of this video. Here we listen to the music of a Lutheran composer and yet the images used are all Catholic! This Truth makes it's presence known. Always wondered why he never became Catholic and yet Bach witnesses to the 2000 years of truth of the One church founded in and by Christ.
